Simone, Founder of 'HAUS': A Community Space for All

In 2017, I embarked on a journey that would evolve into something extraordinary. 'HAUS' began as a series of underground pop-up experiences across Europe. These events were more than just gatherings; they were a fusion of great music, storytelling, and a celebration of life. As time passed, I built a dedicated following that recognised the profound connection between these elements.

Today, 'HAUS' stands as a physical store nestled in the heart of Brixton. It's a place where all the joys of music, plants, culture and community converge under one roof. At 'HAUS,' I embrace everyone, regardless of age, from the elderly, and toddlers to ravers. It's not just a store; it's a community space that exudes the warmth and spontaneity of a house party.

But 'HAUS' is far from ordinary. It's more than a space; it's a feeling, a movement, and a retail experience unlike any other. During the day, it transforms into what feels like a plant spa, providing an escape from the city's hustle and bustle. Here, people can shop for vinyl, savor tea, indulge in deep conversation and immerse themselves in a natural, plastic-free environment.

As night falls, 'HAUS' comes alive with new live music discoveries, underground vinyl DJ sets, fashion parties, book launches, exhibitions, community gatherings, and even a destination for those seeking a unique tattoo. It's the place to be for those in search of diverse and enriching experiences.

About me, I'm Simone, a local artist with a global perspective. I founded 'HAUS,' a lifestyle store, in Brixton in September 2021. My upbringing in South London, surrounded by the influences of Nigerian and French Caribbean parents and my experiences living around the world has inspired me to curate a utopian space where everyone feels at home. My 'HAUS' is your 'HAUS.'

MISSION

I’m on a mission to create a space that transcends boundaries, celebrates diversity, and fosters a sense of belonging within our vibrant community.

At 'HAUS,' I’m passionately committed to addressing the pressing social and environmental issue of urban disconnection from nature and community. In our bustling, fast-paced urban lives, it's all too easy to lose touch with the natural world and one another. This disconnect not only affects our well-being but also has far-reaching consequences for the environment.

My mission is to reintroduce the elements of nature and community into the heart of Brixton. I recognise that many urban residents have limited access to green spaces, which can lead to increased stress, reduced mental well-being, and a sense of isolation. Moreover, our fast-paced lifestyles often contribute to excessive consumption and waste, harming the environment we all share.

Through 'HAUS,' I am determined to bridge these gaps by offering an oasis of greenery and a space where all members of our diverse community can come together and socialise. I provide access to a wide range of plants, host events that celebrate culture and art, and create opportunities for local and underrepresented creatives to showcase their work.

My commitment to the environment is just as strong. I offer plastic-free, sustainable products, and medicinal teas and promote eco-conscious healthy living. My plant spa provides a haven of tranquillity in the heart of the city, allowing individuals to reconnect with nature and each other.

In an era where urbanisation often leaves people feeling isolated and disconnected from the world around them, 'HAUS' is my humble attempt to break these barriers and create an inclusive, eco-conscious, and culturally rich environment. I firmly believe that by nurturing these connections, we can improve the overall well-being of our community and contribute to a more sustainable, harmonious urban landscape. Every day, I wake up with the hope that my efforts will help others reconnect with the values I hold dear and provide a haven where every heart finds a home. My mission is simple: to make a positive difference, one plant, one conversation, and one shared experience at a time.
